Pontiac, MI (June 3, 2011) tour blog.

Last night I saw Augustana, Austin Gibbs, and The Maine. Let me say, it was the best night I've had in a long time. I stood in line outside for 2 hours! Which was hot, but totally worth it. I bought my merch before the show started, and while in line Vito chewed out some lady who cut in front of everyone, which I thought was kind of funny, but also nice in its own way. Austin Gibbs went on first, and you could tell that not a lot of people in the crowd knew who he was, but that the good vibes he was giving off were infectious. Everyone was dancing around and some people were even singing along, which I enjoyed. The Maine was up next, and let me say, they KILLED it. Their shows never disappoint, but the passion and soul they put into their performances is truly amazing. Their set list was a good mix of older songs (with a new twist), song from Black and White, and new songs. Even on the new songs that nobody knew the lyrics to, people were loving the show. Going into this show I had only listened to Augustana a few times, and really only because I didn't want to be completely confused when they played. Their set wasn't as rambunctious as The Maine and Austin Gibbs, but that didn't make it any less fun. Their music seems full of soul, and the show was low key, but amazing. The crowd had thinned out when Augustana started to play, and anyone that left early should really be upset, because Augustana was amazing. Their songs were infectious and the atmosphere in the venue was indescribable. I loved that all the bands came back to do a Tom Petty cover, and that Augustana stuck around after that to play two more songs. The night ended with creeping near tour buses to meet everyone, and all in all the concert was amazing. All of these musicians have bright futures, and I can't wait to see them again some day.
