alright this has always been on my mind....
alright, this could get ugly.
please know that i'm not meaning to start any "epic online battle" i'm just trying to see what everyone thinks.
Here goes..
Fangirls...
i personally cannot stand him. i cannot count how many times i have heard "john take my v card!" or "pat have my babies" once i was tapped on the shoulder and asked if Jared and Kennedy were in The Maine.
i mean COME ON! if you say that you "love the maine" but dont even realize when a member of the band is staned two feet away from you, why go to their shows.
I'm not gonna lie, they're all pretty freakin attractive. but they're music is so amazing and i think, personally, thats all that people should care about.
what do you guys think?
any fan girl stories?
You can edit your post.
hah. not according to my computer
Ugggh I know.
Like at the free Huntington Beach performance, right next to me a girl was talking to her friend and was like "oh you'll love them, the lead singer is really cute."
It would have bugged me more if it weren't free I guess, but it also bugged me seeing how many people bought the CD there, since that probably means they didn't have it before they saw them live.
And also when I went to warped tour at ventura, some people were trying to crowd surf but the crowd was full of fangirls who didn't dance or move for that matter, and just kind of stood there saying that john was hot.
It really bugged me :/
I have to disagree with some of the stuff that's being said. There are some people that actually do like The Maine but don't realize who the members are. I don't think there's anything wrong with that because they at least like the music. For example, I love This Century but I've never really looked at their pictures and such so when they came up to me at Warped Tour I didn't realize who they were until I saw that they were selling To Love And Back. Also, why is it bad that someone didn't own the CD before they heard them live? I don't see why that's a problem. One of the things that pisses me off is that everyone always judges new fans of any band and labels them as fan girls because they're listening to the band once it's more popular. Sorry that those people hadn't listened to them before but some actually like the music and band for themselves, not their looks. However, I do understand why people don't like actual fan girls either. I have to agree that I hate it when people like a band for just how attractive and hot they are. You should like a band for their music, and it's fine and all to find them attractive but that's not what you should base your love on unless you just love them for their looks and don't really care about the music. You can just find band guys attractive and not listen to their music but if that's the case then don't go to their shows to see them, go to meet them. Don't go to their shows and say that you love them when you actually only like their looks. Say why you love them. /This was a rant and it wasn't aimed at any of you ladies, that's just my response to some of your comments and some comments of my own.
haha i don't take any offense to it at all, no worries. i do agree with a lot of what your saying. and i agree full-heartedly that judging new fans is annoying and shows how rude people can be (i hope i'm not judging any new fans). i want the maine to have tons of fans, honestly and truly. i would just want them to have substantial fans.
like what you said about your situation with this century, some people hear music that they like before they recognize people that make the music, i agree with what you said 100%. what i think is particularly annoying is people who don't take the time to learn who are members after a while. and again, like you said, if you don't like the music, don't go see them preform, go see them in particular.
Yeah, I can definitely see where you're coming from. Obviously after a while of listening to them you'd know the people in the band because after all they do make the band. Once you become a fan of a band and you really like them you do learn names and such. I did that with This Century because I hadn't been listening to them for a long time before Warped, but I did realize who they were after especially after that situation. As for The Maine having new fans, I want them to have as many fans as they possibly can because they deserve it so much. I'm not going to lie, I love The Maine, and I loved when they were smaller and a lot of people didn't know about them. I think that when you love a band though you start to realize that you really want the best for them and if that means new fans then you're happy for them :) That's why I hate when people judge new fans because you never know how much new people could love your favorite band and if they honestly like the band they'll listen to older stuff because when you love a band you want to listen to as much of their music as you can. I can't say that you have to be okay with new fans though because that's obviously not true, but I'm sure that most people can agree that they want the best for their favorite band and they want them to be successful and sometimes you have to deal with things you don't like for them to live their dreams.

By the CD thing, I meant I think at the huntington show, there were some people that were wearing shirts they made saying the maine or something, but they had like just bought the CD there.
and from what i could tell, the maine themselves weren't selling them, so it just seemed like they didn't own it but were fans anyway.
and I'm like that too. I have no idea what some bands that I like look like, but if I'm going to a show soon I look them up and stuff like that.
Maybe they owned it online? I don't know but I totally get where you're coming from. I thought you were saying that there was something with someone listening to a band for the first time and buying their CD because of that which is why I was questioning why that was a problem. Yeah, I definitely look up bands if I'm seeing them but I wasn't planning on seeing This Century because I didn't realize that they'd be at Ventura.
IT'S PATHETIC, when people throw themselves to the band mates, because seriously, I don't think they'll go and sleep with a fan for a one night stand, it's pretty inhuman to do so... At least I find it is.
With fans though, I think if they go to their shows, yes they should know their songs and love them for their music, and at least KNOW who's IN THE BAND!
it's so crazy...
I am guilty though because when they came to Montreal I didn't know many.. any songs because it was the Soundtrack of my Summer tour and I came to listen to Metro Station, but left loving the Maine, and soon loved their music and understood the meanings. as well as, they're so freekin hot.

the fact that i hate about fangirls is when they're like over-reacting when they meet the boys & they scream like ' OMG YOURE SO FREAKING HOT!' i mean.. i dont know, its unecessary. anyways, & i also hate the fact that they only love The Maine because of their look. The most amazing thing about them its their music, not their look ..i agree that they're all beautiful & have a great sense of style..but the music is always first to me (:

oh yeah fangirls bother me so much! At warped tour I was standing by A Rocket To The Moon's tent and there was this girl who was just standing there and then she started flirting with their merch guy (And this girl was only like 13) So she takes their CD sign and says "Oh you should come buy Cds from . . . What's this band's name?" I was just like seriously. She didnt even know the band and she stayed there for their signing

I agree, but I think self consciously people do like them for their looks too, because it's how the media portrays it to us, and like when we see someone ugly but they're good we won't like them as much. like Susan Boyle, people were shocked that someone who looked like her, could have a voice and sounded that great. so all in all it's just how the mind and everything works for us to agree to it. other than that I guess it's how people think as well.
I'm sorry to sound like a fan girl before but, yeah I can't really defend myself I like them a lot and they're music makes me think twice about things. I don't know it's just how i relate to the songs.

I was at the AP tour and my friends & I were meeting Justin Richards from ARTTM. Someone tapped me on the shoulder and asked me if he was any of importance. How nice. gr
im agreeing with all this said above.
If your going to a concert you should know the bands. Of course you may not know them all like at warped but still you should know who you are seeing. I just recently went the the what happens in vegas tour with my favorite highway, eye alaska, the summer set, a rocket to the moon, and the cab and so many girls would just go get a picture with anyone that there were other people around. one girl got a picture with a merch guy thinking that he was in the band, and the merch guy turned to me after and said" she thinks im in the band."
whatever, the maine deserves fans, but real fans that like them for there music not for looks. but the astonishly good looks are just a fabulous bonus. :D

"high fives are free tee shirts aren't"
I personally love merch guys :)
It cracks me up everytime. I'm pretty much not attracted to someone unless I know their personality, but that's just my weird quirk, ya know? I can acknowledge someone's attractive, but I'm not going to swoon and offer my uterus to them. I mean one ew, b they could be creepers and be good at hiding it and lastly, Um, they're human beings. HUMAN BEINGS. not gods. (as much as some of us would like to think otherwise).
You can't ask people not to like the appeal they have in their looks. looks are part of the package. It's a very human reaction to like pretty things.
To be honest, though, I'm the one who will be at the sidelines imitating fangirls with my friends. like "omg did you see it? he looked at me. omg we're pratically like married now. omg omg omg Pat flipped his hair in my direction." I'm a bit harsh. And to be honest, I blush like a tomato at thought of just meeting them :| no lies. But that's because i'm intimidated by the idea.

"In argument similes are like songs in love; they describe much, but prove nothing."
i just want people to love their music. :)
but i do agree with you on the girls who are just there for their looks and not there music.
i do think it's horrible that some girls will only "love" the band because of the way they look,
but some of the girls who get really excited at meeting the guys really do love their music.
like me, for example. it's not like i'm taking my clothes off and asking the guys to rape me, or whatever. but i do get really excited to meet the guys.
i mean, why shouldn't i? i love their music, i love what they do, and i love how nice they are. i think i'm entitled to feeling whatever emotion i want to, because it's mine.
agh, i dunno. i'm really sensitive on this subject.
just because i'm young, a lot of people at their concerts will probably deem me as a fangirl.
yes, they're attractive, and i do admit, that that is part of why i love the guys, but not the only reason.
looks will always matter to society. it's just the way everyone is.
yesssss! someone who understands. AGREED x9625474111
I cannot stand fan girls. Especially the ones you can tell are only at shows for the looks and exposure. The ones who bug me most though are those little teeny bopper fan girls. You know the ones, they're anywhere ranging from twelve to fifteen years old wearing three inch skirts, too small tanks (sometimes wearing a pair of heels or wedges). And they have their makeup layered on thicker than thick and their hair's all done up. I think it's great if you like The Maine (any band in general, really), but don't go to a concert looking like that. And don't proceed to throw yourself at the band members. It's NOT attractive to be a skank. If you're twelve to fifteen, be twelve to fifteen. Don't try and up your social status by attempting to hook up with as many band members as possible. All you need to wear to a show are jeans and a tee, it's not that hard. (not that I have anything against someone who goes to a show in a skirt just... make sure it covers you up, ya know?) And then they push their way through the crowd to be in the MIDDLE of the mosh and they just STAND THERE. Then they get pissed when people run into them. The whole fan girl thing is just sooo tired. Like a band but don't try too hard. And don't think you're suuuper adorable when you ask them to have your babies or take your v card. Because you're not.
.....this is something I'm quite passionate about, sorry for the rant, haha.....

One of the main reason why I like John Oh so much is that he can tell who is real and who is fake. I was at the Soundtrack on your Summer Tour and these really fan girly girls were trying to be all cutesy and trying to flirt with them. Well, they asked for a photo and Garett and Jared went in to take a pic. John wasn't having it so he was like "I'll take the pic!" lol My friend had to say "I think they want you in the pic" and he was all "alright...." lmao
He spent more time with us just talking instead of girls acting like a fool.
you're so right :). i mean look at many boards john gets in his section and look at say, jareds or something. he gets 5. i dont see the difference. to me, theyre all the same. theyre all special. i just wish some girls would just show some class when trying to talk to band memebers instead of acting like crazed fan girls.

cant stop wont stop, i must be dreaming.

cant stop wont stop, i must be dreaming.
i completely agree!
i wouldn't necessarily call them 'fan'girls, more like girls.
they're pretty annoying.
they don't even really know much about them, they just think they're attractive, and probably listened to a song by them then labeled themselves as fans.
they don't see really anything in the band, they just... 'like' them.
it's fine when they're coming on here and new fans and are ready to learn about the maine and love them. but when you've known them for a day, only know one song and "z0mg i tihnk john is so fuggin' hawt. like, omgogmg. he iz such a cutie. i am gun marry heeem." it's stupid. you're not cool because you know all the words to one song and got in a chat and talked to them. BE REAL. if you're meeting them and all over him and trying to kiss him: he's obviously annoyed for one and for two, it makes you look stupid.
thanks. bye.

forreal???
wow yay john.
sucks that he had to take a picture though :/

&& im fifteen (latee 15) but i act like im 20.
&& i <3 ALL the guys from the maine (: i also hate when girls just like the lead singerr. gagme.
not saying john is ew. goshno. great to look at but we don't KNOW him. i hate it when people think they KNOWWW the person cause they met them like, what once?? comeonpeople.
Yeah, they can get really annoying. At warped I was looking at my schedule and a girl asked if she could look at it with me. I said sure and she looked at it and said "Oh my god the Maine is playing at 6:15. They're my favorite band everrrrrrr. Seriously i love them so effing much." And i was like "Oh Jared is signing at their merch tent right now" She just looked confused and said "Jared? Who is he?"
Like don't pretend its your favorite band if you don't know anything about them. I get that sometimes you know the music and not the band members but eventually if you like the music enough, your going to do some research.

I definitely agree with a lot of this.
I went to see A Rocket To The Moon a couple weeks ago and there was this girl on the ground yelling at her friend who was meeting Eric and Justin & she was like "here, take my shoe, have the one in the green sign it"
And I guess it's one thing to not know their names but then to not even get up and get the autograph yourself..it seemed like she just wanted signatures to brag about.
& on the looks thing, for me, a lot of the time I dont find band members attractive until I listen to and grow to love their music. I think the music is what makes them attractive to me..
:)

i get what you guys are talking about the annoying girls. But also, the music is what is of importance. There are tons of bands that i listen to and I couldn't pick them out of a crowd, so don't judge girls on that. And also just becuase a girl doesn't EVERY word to every song doesnt mean shes in it just becuase the band is "hot". Just don't jump to conclusions or you'll look kinda like a bitch who thinks she owns the band and i dont want that to happen to you guys. Hope i didn't offend you.
